Arturo Calle: A Menswear Campaign in Motion

A menswear and lifestyle campaign for Arturo Calle with BBDO, shot across Bogotá — tailoring, movement and everyday city style under clean Andean light.

Arturo Calle is one of Colombia's best-known clothing brands, and a campaign for a label like that has to do two things at once: show the clothes clearly, and make people want the life the clothes belong to. Working with the agency BBDO, we shot it across Bogotá as a study in everyday motion, style not on a runway but out in the real city, mid-stride.

The idea was clothing that moves with you through an ordinary, aspirational day. So almost nobody in these frames is standing still.

Fashion that lives in the street

Studio fashion has its place, but there is a reason so much of the best menswear imagery now happens on the street: real environments make clothes believable. A man running for a meeting, a woman gliding through the old town on a scooter, kids on a skateboard, someone climbing a staircase in good knitwear. The clothing reads as part of a life rather than a product on a hanger.

It is the same conviction behind my personal Florence street-style work: style is most persuasive when it looks lived-in and in motion. The difference here is that every frame also has to serve a client and show a garment properly, which is its own discipline.

Bogotá gave the campaign a distinctive stage. The city has crisp, high-altitude light, colourful colonial streets in La Candelaria, sleek modern plazas, and a genuine street culture, and we used all of it. Mixing the old town with the new city kept the campaign feeling contemporary and rooted in a real place rather than an anonymous global nowhere.

Local specificity is an asset, not a limitation. A campaign that could only have been shot in Bogotá is more memorable than one that could have been shot anywhere.

Clothing looks most desirable when it is going somewhere, not standing still.

Clarity inside the movement

The technical trick with motion-led fashion is keeping the clothing legible while everything moves. You need enough sharpness and the right angle that the cut, the fabric and the fit still read, even as the subject strides through the frame. That balance, energy plus clarity, is what separates a fashion campaign from a nice candid photograph.

I keep the compositions clean and let a single strong subject carry each frame, the same way I approach a tennis-and-style shoot: sport or street, the garment and the person have to win the composition.

Why fashion clients matter

Fashion and apparel are among the most demanding commercial categories, and being trusted with a national brand's campaign is a serious credential. It also flexes a different muscle from corporate or documentary work, faster, more stylish, more about desire, and keeping that muscle strong makes every other kind of shoot better.

These are some of the frames from those days across Bogotá: the tailoring, the movement, and a city that turned out to be the best model of all.
